Mama Aia, known as Mama Turi, was born in Mitiaro and raised in Rarotonga, Cook Islands. She creates handmade ei katu, weaving cultural stories of return, connection, and pride through floral adornments.
Mama Turi’s life has been one of deep service, raising community children and caring for family with unwavering love. A proud member of the Vainetini under the Cook Islands Christian Church (CICC), she is known for her cooking, cleaning, and generous spirit.
Encouraged by her small business journey, Mama Turi recently embraced the art of making ei katu — a craft she never expected to pursue. What began as a personal challenge blossomed into a passion, reminding her that culture waits patiently, ready to be reawakened no matter the timing.
Each ei katu is lovingly handcrafted, with colours thoughtfully woven to reflect the natural connection among Cook Islands people adorned in floral beauty. She pours love and care into every piece, hoping they will be worn with pride and joy.
