Our kaupapa.
Mīharo Collective is more than a retail space — it’s a movement dedicated to nurturing Māori and Pacific creativity, identity, and culture in Murihiku.
We exist to support local Māori and Pacific artists, providing them with a platform to showcase their work and encouraging them to see themselves — and be seen — as artists. Whether emerging or established, every artist we work with brings unique skills, stories, and traditions that deserve to be celebrated.
Our kaupapa is rooted in keeping traditional practices alive. From weaving and carving to tatau and jewellery making, we champion the passing down of knowledge between generations. We believe in creating opportunities for cultural exchange, skill-sharing, and learning, so that these taonga tuku iho (treasures handed down) continue to flourish.
Sustainability is at the heart of what we do — both in the way we operate and in how we nurture our cultural ecosystem. By supporting our artists, we are investing in the survival of traditional crafts, the growth of creative careers, and the strengthening of our communities.
Every purchase made through Mīharo Collective directly supports the artist, while also contributing to Mīharo Murihiku Trust’s charitable programmes that inspire, connect, and uplift Māori and Pacific communities.
Together, we’re building a future where culture is celebrated, creativity thrives, and our stories live on.
